People

People & Partners

Playworks was formed as an independent, project-based production group to promote and produce work for stage and film, as well as arts-related events. Based in North Carolina, the group has collaborated often with other organizations, and with sponsors who have a special interest in specific projects. Additional funding is provided by grants and foundations previously including Rockwell Foundation, Wesley Mancini Foundation, and The Arts & Science Council. Projects involve professional staff and artists from around the country in theatre, film, television, music and literature, many of whom have worked together, creating a shared history of values, process, and experience. Some of the artists' professional honors include  Drama Desk Award, Guggenheim Fellow, McKnight Fellow, and work at some of the nation's leading theatres, and on its large and small screens. Many are also members* of Actors' Equity Association, Dramatists Guild, Writers Guild East, and/or Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. Click the links below to visit websites for more about some of them, and about previous sponsoring, partnering and presenting organizations.
