Claudia Carter CovingtonClaudia Carter Covington served for 15 years as Literary Manager of Charlotte Repertory Theatre, coordinating and managing in-school programs as well as bringing to national prominence the theatre's Festival of New American Plays. Through that festival she helped develop many new plays and worked closely with dozens of writers including Wendy Hammond, Carter Lewis, Jason Sherman, Laddy Sartin, Mark Eisman, Sophie Burnham, Kate Hawley, Staci Swedeen, John Henry Redwood, Christopher Kyle, John Orlock, and Judy Simpson Cook. As an actor she trained under Sanford Meisner and Mira Rostova at The Neighborhood Playhouse, and has performed for many theatres, including playing Lindsay in the world premiere of Buzz McLaughlin's SISTER CALLING MY NAME, which also came through CRT's new play festival. She has coordinated the new play activities for Playworks / SummerStage, N.C.'s New River Dramatists, and Davidson College. She has served as regional vice president of Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA).
