Hal Corley

Last summer two of Hal’s new plays were developed.  Easter Monday premiered at the Pendragon Theatre, Saranac Lake, NY,  running in rep through Labor Day, moving to the State University of NY, Potsdam.  Brush the Summer By was workshopped by both Charlotte’s Playworks, and the Phoenix New Play Festival in Arizona.  The previous year, Hal’s Legion premiered at San Francisco's New Conservatory Theater, running three months, and his Mama and Jack Carew, an O'Neill semi-finalist, was part of the 2002 Key West Theatre Festival.  Over the previous 15 years, Hal worked with major developmental programs, including Atlanta's Alliance, Chicago's North Light Rep, Stage West in MA, and the Dallas Theater Center. His An Ounce of Prevention was developed by the Seattle Repertory Theatre, had an extended run at Pioneer Square, ran months in LA starring the late Dick Shawn, and was also staged in New York, Charlotte, and Boston.  Finding Donis Anne had its mainstage premiere at Syracuse Stage, and was also seen in Atlanta, New York, LA, Charlotte (directed by Steve Umberger), and Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre.  Hal's one-act, Matinee, won 2nd Prize in the John Gassner contest, was performed on Minnesota NPR by the Guthrie Acting Co., and in a NYC one-act festival, directed by Anne Meara.  His In the Charge of an Angel was produced by both Pendragon and Stageworks-on-the Hudson, NY.  He is an active member of the Dramatists Guild and the Writers Guild of America (East).  After 24 years in New York City, in 2003 Hal and his family moved to Summit, New Jersey.
