Steve Umberger has directed/produced stage and film/video projects for many companies. 
He has founded or co-developed four companies including directing and producing 100+ plays as Founder and Artistic Director of Charlotte Repertory Theatre, one of the 70+ national members of The League of Resident Theatres. The Rep team includes a collective of resident and visiting artists, among them Tony Award, Academy Award, Emmy Award and Pulitzer Prize winners. His work includes theatre and symphony collaborations; interdisciplinary projects; and the long-term development and premieres of many new scripts. Film and television includes An Appalachian Trilogy (co-writer / director), the documentary Call Me By My Name, and the Acting Our Age series. For Playworks (Founder / Director), recent work includes a new format: stage and film documentaries created with 'citizens of history.'
